The Invitation

The Invitation
Elwood West

This recording arrived without a date, a label or a name attached. It is not hosted by Asa Thibodeaux. It is a recovered recording, and it opens the files.

A narrator speaks to you directly. You have been noticed, the voice says, and not by accident. It describes a society with no headquarters, no website and no verified account, one that has operated for longer than most nations have existed and touches nearly every industry you could name. It gives that society a name: the Manassean Society.

From there the voice turns to a trilogy by Elwood West, three books told as three confessions, each in a different voice. The first begins with a killing and a request that you not think the speaker evil. “Beautifully unsettling,” in the words of Dr. Gina Gettings, a scholar of English literature.

The recording is short. Listen first, and then decide what you make of it.

Recovered recording. Undated.

THE TRILOGY
