Beneath the surface of the world you know, an organization older than any nation operates through wealth, influence, and inherited sin. I wrote you letters I never sent. Every one of them began the same way and ended with the same lie — that I would come back. You rebuilt a house with someone you didn't know. I rebuilt a war with someone I couldn't kill. Between us, a country tore itself apart and neither of us noticed because we were too busy tearing apart ourselves.
